In order to strengthen the medical facilities in Malta, the Rivaroxaban, which is equivalent to Xarelto and Rivaban, will be distributed in pharmacies in the country.

Valletta, Malta: In order to strengthen the medical facilities in Malta, the Rivaroxaban, which is equivalent to Xarelto and Rivaban, will be distributed in pharmacies in the country. Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne announced that Rivaroxaban would be offered free to patients who already use these medicines.Ā 

Moreover, the medicines will also be available to the patients using warfarin.Ā 

As per the new guidelines presented by the Government of Malta, Rivaroxaban will be authorized free of cost to the people who are already using Xarelto and Rivaban. They will get the medicines under the “Pharmacy of Your Choice scheme (POYC).” People only have to contact their family doctor or a Health Centre doctor to get an appointment at the special clinic within the Primary Healthcare system. In the clinic, the patients will get a prescription for the medicine.Ā Ā 

Further, patients can get the medicines with others that are offered free to POYC patients and with an immediate effect.Ā 

On the other hand, the Government has also issued guidelines for the patients who used warfarin. It stated that the patients could change the medicine after having a discussion with their family doctor at their next blood appointment.Ā 

With the scheme of the government formulary, arund 10,000 patients will be able to save 80 euros and 100 euros per month.Ā 

Further, Deputy Prime Minister Fearne asserted that with the implementation of the step, his Government would fulfil another electoral promise in the first 100 days of the new administration.Ā 

Earlier, Health Minister Chris Fearne also announced the passing of proposed amendments to IVF law with the large majority in the parliament of Malta. He stated that the step was also among the promise that the party had made during the elections.
