Valletta, Malta: Chris Fearne- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health of Malta, inaugurates a new Cardiac Scanner System at the Medical Imaging Department in Mater Dei. The system will assist the specialists in the analysis of the functioning of the patient’s body. The new modern technique will also help to uplift the procedure of the treatment in the hospitals.

On Thursday, July 22, 2022, Chris Fearne hosted an inauguration ceremony and outlined the significance of the new technique. He also posted a picture on social media with a caption and wrote, “A new modern device to perform heart scans in Mater Dei inaugurated today – more investment from the Department of Health. Health First.”

Chris Fearne outlined that with a total of 700,000 euro investment, the new cardiac scanner will be turned out the biggest development in the health sector of Malta. Mater Dei has become one of three hospitals to use and boast the new equipment across the globe. 

During the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne stated that the Health Department at Mater Dei had become part of a project with the International Atomic Energy Agency for Malta in recent months. It has been done with the aim of having sophisticated equipment that can perform a gamma scam on the heart. 

He further explained that the investment of 700,000 euros had been given by the Department of Health and the International Atomic Energy Commission in equal parts. 

Outlining the benefits of the project, Chris Fearne mentioned that new equipment would mainly help in the proper analysis of the functioning of the body. It will also study the anatomy of the patient’s body which includes the heart and the kidneys. 

While providing the best treatment to the patients, the new technique will also give clearer and more accurate results in a shorter time with the use of fewer rays. 

Deputy Prime Minister ensured that the significant investment in the health sector will place the country on the world health map as foreign specialists will now come to Malta to train on this sophisticated equipment. 

These particular measures evidently showed how much the health sector is progressed under the leadership of Chris Fearne. He asserted that the Government of Mala has been investing in the health sector significantly not only to attain a level of excellence but also to stick to this level. 

Further, Chris Fearne shed a light upon the COVID-19 situation in the country and stated that only 18 patients are present in the hospital who are symptomatic.
