Making of 9th film will start soon in Nevis, announces Premier Mark Brantley

Premier of Nevis and the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement- Mark Brantley, announced that the country will soon start the making of the 9th feature film

St Kitts and Nevis: Premier of Nevis and the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement- Mark Brantley, announced that the country will soon start the making of the 9th feature film. He also recalled the struggle story behind the creation of the film industry on the island.

In his official statement, Premier Mark Brantley added that it was in December 2020, at the height of the global Covid-19 pandemic, that he engaged with Philippe Martinez and MSR Media about creating a film industry in Nevis and the wider Federation of St. Kits and Nevis.

He asserted, “By January 2021, MSR had moved equipment and personnel to Nevis and, since then, have produced some eight feature films on the island with scenes and sights from our beautiful sister St Kitts as well. I am advised that the 9th film will start soon.”

In addition to the jobs created locally and the spin-offs for the shops and restaurants and telecommunications and service providers and others, we have witnessed local people getting a chance right here in the Federation to pursue careers behind and in front of the camera. Whether it’s acting, directing, make-up, costumes, lighting, sound, editing or even catering, our people are seeing and feeling and participating in a brand-new industry being built from the ground up.

He mentioned that each film is viewed by millions worldwide which in turn means a massive marketing coup for our little island and country.

With this new announcement of 35 films over the next five years, the Federation can now truly boast of the film industry that he can certain will attract other players and allied services into the space.

“I am so exceedingly proud that when others saw the impossible, the NIA and MSR saw the possible. If we continue on this path, then we would have ushered into being the first new industry to our beloved country since the Citizenship by Investment Programme bringing with it hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign direct investment, “said the premier.

He also wished again to publicly thank MSR Media for their partnership and for answering my call to come to Nevis and help to build a film industry.
