St Lucia: Prime Minister of St Lucia Allen Chastanet appealed to citizens of his country to visit the nearest wellness center or private physician to get their regular health checks. Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Prime Minister was addressing the Sixth Session of the Eleventh Parliament of Saint Lucia on the 17th March 2021.
He said, “I would like to make a special appeal to the citizens of this country, in particular the men of our nation. I am saddened by the statistics in relation to chronic conditions such as Diabetes and High blood pressure and lately Covid-19 related deaths.”
He added, “Your health and wellbeing are paramount to us building a healthy, resilient nation. Please visit the nearest wellness center or your private physician to get your regular health checks.”
He further noted, “Maintain a healthy lifestyle which includes, fresh fruits and vegetables, exercise, reduced stress. I also appeal to all, to set a positive example by going in to get your COVID-19 vaccine at the soonest.”
Notably, the Vaccination drive in the different parts of St Lucia has already started, & it’s going through smoothly.
Ministry of Health St Lucia also made thier statement on the concern over the vaccine for the people.
“The Ministry of Health & Wellness has noted that some countries in the European Union have suspended the use of a particular batch of Astra Zeneca coronavirus Vaccine distribution, after reports of rare blood coagulation disorders in persons who got it from that specific batch. A full examination was carried out to determine whether there was a link between the vaccine and the disorder.” Ministry of Health said.
Ministry further added that In a report dated March 14, 2021, Astra Zeneca has indicated that safety is of paramount concern & the Company is continually monitoring its vaccine’s safety. After a review of all available safety data of more than 17 million people vaccinated in the European Union and the UK with COVID- 19 Vaccine Astra Zeneca has shown no proof of an enhanced risk of pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, or any blood clotting disorders in any defined age group, gender, batch or in any specific country.
