Trinidad and Tobago: Partly cloudy to cloudy with light to moderate showers in a few areas and light to moderate rain over broad areas in Trinidad and Tobago. There is a medium chance (40%-60%) for the development of heavy showers or thunderstorms in some areas. 

Conditions are expected to gradually settle during the evening and night but with lingering showers in some areas. There remains the medium probability (40%) for an isolated heavy shower or thunderstorm during the night.

 In the event of the occurrence of a heavy shower or thunderstorm gusty winds and street or flash flooding is likely in the vicinity. Mostly fair with brief showers in a few areas. Low chance (20%-40%) of an isolated heavy shower in northern Leewards.

rinidad and Tobago is experiencing weather conditions associated with convergence and instability ahead of the axis of an approaching tropical wave, in conjunction with the ITCZ.

A fast-moving area of cumulonimbus (thunderstorm clouds) developed east of Trinidad and Tobago, and passed just before 7:00 a.m. this morning. Strong wind speeds were observed and recorded, together with showers and rain over varying areas. 

The morning remained mostly cloudy with intermittent showers or rain, and isolated thunderstorms observed in the vicinity. The temperature recorded at Piarco 10:00 a.m. was 26°C and 26°C at Crown Point. The maximum temperature forecast for Piarco today is expected to be 31°C, and for Crown Point 31°C. 

Forecast for this afternoon is for partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with periods of showers or rain in varying localities. There is a medium chance (60%) for heavy showers or thunderstorms to develop in a few areas. Conditions are expected to become settled by late afternoon.

The axis of the nearest tropical wave is located near 55° west longitude, and should reach Trinidad and Tobago and the Lesser Antilles by tomorrow, Wednesday 16th August 2023. 

This wave is expected to bring some instability over Trinidad and Tobago, with partly cloudy periods producing showers or rain, and the chance for isolated heavy showers or a thunderstorm.
