LIAT resumes flights to Caribbean islands including Grenada , Barbados and SVG

LIAT- a Caribbean airline has decided to resume all the suspended flights in the southern part of its network. LIAT earlier, suspended flights as of Friday, 9 April, due to the volcanic activities in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The effusive eruptions at the La Soufriere volcano in Saint Vincent have halted and there have been very few ash emissions reported over the last week. As of the improvements in the conditions, LIAT has taken a decision to resume the services.

From Grenada the flight services opened on 28 April and from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines LIAT will resume services as of 6 May 2021.

On resuming flights from Grenada and St Vincent, LIAT officials stated, “We are committed to reconnecting the Caribbean, following the suspension of services due to the eruption of La Soufriere volcano. LIAT is restarting its services. We have restarted flights to Barbados and St Lucia. We will start flights to Grenada on 28 April and to St Vincent and the Grenadines from 6 May,2021.”

Based on the volatility of the situation, passengers are asked to continue to monitor their e-mails and LIAT’s website for further updates. Passengers wishing to reschedule are asked to contact LIAT’s reservation call centres for any assistance.

The airline- LIAT, would be working with the authorities to assist in relief and evacuation efforts to St Vincent and the Grenadines until they are advised to shut down.

LIAT airline would further issue any updates and advisories through its website- www.liat.com and via social media platforms.

With this LIAT’s management and staff also extended their prayers to the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Currently, LIAT airline is under administration. The administrator is- Mr Cleveland Seaforth of BDO. For now, LIAT is operating a limited schedule to the nine destinations.
