Castries, Saint Lucia: Two more matches were completed on Tuesday, July 4 as the Inaugural 2023 MINISTRY OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND SPORTS CPL/ ST. LUCIA KINGS SCHOOLS UNDER 19 T-20 X-PLOSION continued at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

In the morning match District 4 CHARGERS registered a comfortable 62 run victory over District 2 WARRIORS. District 4 CHARGERS batting first after winning the toss made a respectful 185 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs with captain Khan Elcock leading the way with an explosive half century.

Khan Elcock made a brilliant 73 with 6 fours and 6 sixes in only 39 balls.

Other useful scores came from, Hansie Mason with 21, J’Dell Louis 14 not out, Cansius Simon 12 and Bjorn Fanis 10 not out.

The wicket takers for District 2 WARRIORS were, Kaylan Neptune with 2 for 38 in 4 overs and 1 wicket each to Khalil St Hill, Isaiah Jones, Merkenry St Luce and skipper Ryan Goodman.

In reply, District 2 WARRIORS was dismissed for 123 in 18.1 overs with captain Ryan Goodman making 30, Khalil St Hill 27 and Sergio Sydney 11.

Bowling for District 4 CHARGERS, Armani Lesmond 2 for 1 in 1 over, Tori Hippolyte 2 for 5 in 4 overs, captain Khan Elcock 2 for 12 in 3 overs and 1 wicket each to Bjorn Fanis, D’ Andre Napoleon and Kareem Francis.

RESULT: DISTRICT 4 CHARGERS DEFEATED DISTRICT 2 WARRIORS BY 62 RUNS.

In the afternoon match, District 8 CHALLENGERS completed a 6 wicket victory over District 6 HAMMERS. District 6 HAMMERS batting first were restricted to 103 all out in 16. 1 overs with Aaron St Clair making 31, Ashton Alexander 22 and skipper David Naitram 21.

The wicket takers for District 8 CHALLENGERS were, Aiden Scholar with 3 for 30 in 4 overs, Cody Fontenelle 2 for 32 in 4 overs and 1 wicket each to Jude Joseph and Azani Augustin.

Set a victory target of 104, District 8 CHALLENGERS led by a well played half half century from Skipper Cleyanus Jules easily got to their target finishing on 104 for 4 in 11.3 overs.

Cleyanus Jules hit 8 fours and 1 six in making a good looking 53.

The wicket takers for District 6 HAMMERS were Ashton Alexander with 2 for 17 in 3.3 overs and 1 wicket each to Faith Charlemagne and female player Cian Felix.

RESULT: DISTRICT 8 CHALLENGERS WON OVER DISTRICT 6 HAMMERS BY 6 WICKETS. THE TOURNAMENT CONTINUES ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 5 with 2 more exciting matches at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
