The 6th Annual Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Summer Camp continued on Thursday, August 24, 2023 with Day #13 at the Gros Islet Playing Field of Saint Lucia.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The 6th Annual Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Summer Camp continued on Thursday, August 24, 2023 with Day #13 at the Gros Islet Playing Field of Saint Lucia. 

The substantial activity for the day was two cricket matches. Match #1 was played among male participants 12 years and under together with young females.

Match #2 (30 overs a side) was played among male players 17 years and under. The leading performers with the bat in match #1 among the youngsters were Ezra Nelson with 47, John Michael Auguste 18, Omari Mc Candey 11, Andrus Paul 10 and Nathaniel Mangroo 9.

The leading bowlers were, Andrus Paul with 5 wickets, and Ezra Nelson 2 wickets.

In game #2, Ashton Alexander’s team made 197 for 7 in their allotted 30 overs with Captain Ashton Alexander making 56 not out, Jaheem Simeon 33, Isaiah Jones 25, Zahni Joseph 23, Royston Fannis 14 and Ethan Alexander 12.

The wicket takers for Leon Alexander’s team were, Leon Alexander with 3 for 34 in 6 overs, Darvin Forde 2 for 44 in 6 overs and 1 wicket each to Bjorn Fanis and Sharlwan Daniel.

In reply, Leon Alexander’s team led by a splendid knock of 80 by skipper Alexander finished on 198 for 3 in 21 overs. Leon Alexander’s 80 comprised of 15 fours and 1 six.

Other useful scores came from Kamanie Laure with 32 not out, Darvin Forde 18 and Kanil Nelson 17. The wicket takers for Ashton Alexander’s team were, Selena Ross, Royce Paul and Ethan Forde with 1 wicket each.

Young teenage Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Program cricketers JEANDELL CYRIL and LEE JOHN currently in the UK are doing very well for their Cricket Clubs.

Representing the Tillingham CC in a recent game Jeandell Cyril recorded his highest score ever. The tall right handed all rounder who oppened the inning made a brilliant 151 vs Little Baddow CC , inclusive of 17 fours and 5 sixes.

Lee John representing the Islands Vale CC vs. Chiswick CC enjoyed success with both bat and ball. The right arm off all rounder stroked 104 and returned with outstanding bowling figures of 6 for 21 in 9 overs.
