Kamla Persad joins people protesting against fuel price hike in Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago: Opposition leader and former Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad Bissessar joined the scores of patriots across the nation to express strong opposition against the latest hike in the price of the fuel product declared by the Rowley PNM government. 

Moreover, huge supporters of the United National Congress also joined Kamla Persad and others to commence the demonstrations. 

Kamla Persad also encouraged other citizens of Trinidad and Tobago to join and support the protestors. She noted, “Joining citizens across the country this morning as they peacefully expressed their strong opposition to this fuel price hike by this wicked PNM Government.”

While emphasizing the protest, she also stated, “I am joining the scores of patriots across the nation this morning as we all peacefully express our dissatisfaction with this latest fuel price hike by the Rowley PNM Government.”

The protest has been conducted at various places throughout the country. The UNC supporters protest outside Whitehall on the early morning of Tuesday, April 19, 2022. 

The protestors have also gathered at Couva, which is one of many protest auction locations across the country. 

Kamla Persad also stressed that the government is doing wrong, and she and her party will stand with the citizens of the country. 

The protests have caused traffic to Gridlock at more than 30 intersections, particularly along the east-west and South-North Corridor. 

Further, the protest involved members of the United National Congress and other NGOs who have used the slogan “Enough is Enough.”

Today, Couva North MP Ravi Ratiram joins Councillor Dubraj Persad, Allan Taxi Seepersad, Vishan Mohammed and constituents of Couva North to stand up against the increase in fuel prices the increasing food prices, skyrocketing cost of living and runaway crime happening across Trinidad and Tobago.

Opposition leaders also extended greetings to the people who came out this morning to voice their opposition to this spiteful fuel price hike by this Rowley PNM Government. She added,”We will not stop until we have completely Rebuilt and Restored our nation to what it was meant to be.”

Moreover, the protestors also gathered at John Peter Road walkover, Charlieville. The people of Tabaquite sent also joined the protests against the Fuel Hike and ever-increasing cost of living!

Constituents of Pointe a Pierre turned out in their numbers on the Claxton Bay flyover as part of the nationwide demonstrations throughout Trinidad by the UNC and other concerned citizens to stand up to the increase in fuel prices.

He said, “We were privileged to be joined by the Leader of the Opposition Kamla Persad Bissessar who continues to fight the Government on this inhumane act.”

However, police authorities have also intimated the various sites of the protestors, which could be seen in the post of Kamla Persad. Police have also intimated the St Joseph UNC protest. 

“Peaceful UNC protest in La Horquetta shut down by police. Dictatorship in the making. Four van loads of police were sent to shut down the UNC protest in Tunapuna. Dictatorship in the making,” Kamla Persad Bissessar underlined.
