Rwanda: Kamina Johnson Smith- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, shared some glimpses of her wrapped up three days of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2022) started on June 20, 2022.
Kamina Smith asserted that Jamaica continues to engage fellow Commonwealth member states on the matters related to the climate, trade, small states, vulnerability and tourism.
Kamina Smith noted, “We’re 7 hours ahead here in Kigali, Rwanda, and we have wrapped up day 3 of #CHOGM2022. Jamaica continues to engage fellow #Commonwealth member states on matters regarding #climate #trade, #small states #vulnerability, tourism,oceans, and development. Kamina Johnson Smith stated that she is about to address the #Commonwealth Ministerial Meeting on Small States (CMMSS) at the #Kigali Convention Centre.
The theme for this year’s CHOGM is “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.” It focuses on key priority areas which reflect the global challenges to which the Commonwealth must adequately respond. These are fairness, prosperity, security and sustainability.
In the CHOGM 2022, Kamina Smith has been engaged with different events and different diplomatic leaders where she discussed her Candidature for the top position and other key issues such as climate change, development, and sustainability.
Kamina Smith also participated in the Commonwealth Business Forum and Commonwealth Youth Forum, where she discussed oceans, climate change, empowerment of women & youth, democracy and governance.
Kamina Smith is Jamaica’s candidate for the position of the Commonwealth Secretary General and visited various countries to promote herself. She also shared Jamaica’s various multilateral cooperation on crucial issues.
