Jamaica: Kamina Johnson Smith- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, expressed pleasure to return back to home for welcoming President of the Republic of India Ram Nath Kovind to the country. 

On Sunday, May 15, 2022, President Ram Nath Kovind is coming out for his official visit to Jamaica and St Vincent and the Grenadines. 

Kamina Smith also returned from her long tour to African countries, where she was promoting herself as a perfect candidate for the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. 

Along with Kamina Smith, various other dignitaries, such as the Governor General of Jamaica and Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness welcome the President of India in Jamaica. 

While expressing pleasure, Kamina Smith noted, “So pleased to be home in time to join the Governor General, PM Andrew Holness and other dignitaries to welcome for this historic 1st visit to JA by a President of the Republic of India, H.E. Ram Nath Kovind President of India.” 

She further outlined the friendly relations between Jamaica and India and emphasized that the country is looking forward to stronger the friendly relations between the two countries. 

Kamina Smith stated, “We look forward to strengthening the friendship between our countries.”

Besides this, Prime Minister Andrew Holness also expressed pleasure in welcoming President Ram Nath Kovind. 

He said, “I am deeply pleased to extend a warm Jamaican welcome to His Excellency the Honourable Ram Nath Kovind, President of the Republic of India, and his wife, the First Lady of India, Her Excellency Savita Kovind, who are here for an official State Visit.”

Prime Minister Andrew Holness also outlined that the visit will provide an opportunity for further discussions on multilateral ties and helps to strengthen and uplift these relations. 

PM Holness noted, “This visit by India’s President provides an opportunity for further discussions on bilateral cooperation and dialogue as we work closely to deepen relations and people-to-people ties between Jamaica and the Republic of India. “
