Jamaica: Kamina Johnson Smith- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, shared an update of a day in her life on Friday, May 20, 2022. On that day, she held an interactive meeting in NY with representatives of CARICOM countries to the United Nations. 

Further, Kamina Johnson Smith also expresses pleasure after receiving huge support and appreciation from the leaders across the globe.

Firstly she extended gratitude to Liz Truss and stated she was heartened by the support from Liz Truss, UK Foreign Secretary and other members of the UK Government for her candidature for Secretary-General of the #Commonwealth. Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon Vicky Ford. 

Kamina Smith said, “There are great possibilities for global development. Recognizing that no country can achieve its development goals without cooperating with others, I am committed to playing my part in the realization of those possibilities.”

She further received appreciation from the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson. 

Kamina asserted, “Warmly welcoming the UK’s endorsement of my candidacy for Secretary-General of the Commonwealth! My vision is for our family of nations to deliver meaningfully for all members in a rapidly evolving world, so I am heartened to see the UK government join us on this journey toward shared peace and prosperity for all our people.”

Through her social media post, she outlined her vision and perception of the Commonwealth and its delivery of value to the government and people. 

Kamina Johnson Smith noted, “Flashback Friday: It was a wonderful opportunity to meet in NY with representatives of #CARICOM countries to the #UN and to share with them over breakfast a vision for our #Commonwealth and its delivery of value to our governments and people.”

She further shared her perspectives about the Commonwealth as well as various specific matters of her bid for the role of the top position. 

“I shared perspectives on the potential of our #Commonwealth as well as the more specific matter of my bid for the role of #Commonwealth SG #KJS for CSG with #CARICOM brothers and sisters and with the Ambassador to the #UN who is also family (a former HC to Jamaica),” underscored Kamina Smith.
