Kamina Johnson Smith meets PM Gaston Browne in Guyana’s Agri-Investment Forum

Kamina Johnson Smith- Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Jamaica's Candidate for Commonwealth Secretary General 2022, outlined her meeting with Gaston Browne- Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, occurred in the Agri-Investment Forum and Expo held in Guyana.

Jamaica: Kamina Johnson Smith- Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Jamaica’s Candidate for Commonwealth Secretary General 2022, outlined her meeting with Gaston Browne- Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, occurred in the Agri-Investment Forum and Expo held in Guyana. 

She expressed pleasure to interact with Prime Minister and stated that they have touched on various topics related to the stronger relations between the countries in CARICOM. The discussion also featured the position of the Commonwealth and its ties with the Caribbean regions at various stages. 

Kamna Johnson Smith also outlined that they have also talked about the re-energizing vision which is needed for the position of the Commonwealth. She presented herself as a deserving candidate for the Secretary General of Commonwealth and shared her viewpoint and emerging agenda for the top position. 

Moreover, Kamina Smith also described herself for the position and tried to make her rod to CHOGM22. 

Through her social media post, Senator Johnson Smith stated, “Meeting with Prime Minister of Hon. Gaston Browne was an important engagement while in Guyana. Among other matters, we discussed the strength of relations between us in #CARICOM, even where we differ. We also discussed my candidature for #Commonwealth #SG and the road to #CHOGM22 #KJSforCSG.” 

Recently, the Republic of Guyana, in collaboration with other CARICOM governments, hosted the Agri-Investment Forum and Expo 2022, where the importance of food security was outlined. 

President Irfaan Ali interacted with various CAROCPM Heads of the government and highlighted his vision for food security and the importance of strengthening agriculture. 

Kamina Johnson Smith also visited and represented Jamaica over there. She interacted with different leaders such as President Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and shared her candidature for the position of the Secretary General of the Commonwealth.  

In addition to that, she also visited various countries such as African countries to promote herself for the top position and also received backing from the countries such as Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, India, United Kingdom.
