Kamina Johnson Smith congratulates newly elected UNSC non-permanent members

Kamina Johnson Smith- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, extended greetings to the newly elected non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2023- 2025.

Jamaica: Kamina Johnson Smith- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, extended greetings to the newly elected non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2023- 2025. 

While congratulating them, Kamina Smith took to Twitter and noted, “Congratulations to the newly elected non-permanent members of the #UNSC for 2023 -2025.”

She further exclaimed that Jamaica also wished them an auspicious day and also stressed their deep contribution to international peace and security and indeed multilateralism

Further, on Thursday, June 9, 2022, the General Assembly elected non-permanent members of the @UN Security Council for a two-year term beginning on January 1 2023. 

These members are as follows: 

Ecuador – 190 

Japan – 184 

Malta – 185 

Mozambique – 192 

Switzerland – 187

Further, Kamina Johnson Smith is the candidate of Jamaica for the position of the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. The elections to fill the post will be held in Rwanda in June. 

Kamina Johnson Smith visited various countries across the globe to promote herself for the position of the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth.    

She also received support from the countries such as India, Belize, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom for her candidature for the top position. 

While meeting with different political leaders across the globe, Kamina Smith shared her re-energizing vision for the top position.
