The preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr is on full swing in Jammu and Kashmir as markets are bustling with the celebration for the joyous occasion.

Jammu and Kashmir: The preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr is on full swing in Jammu and Kashmir as markets are bustling with the celebration for the joyous occasion. After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, the celebration in valley has returned to its regular pace as people are gearing up for the festivities.

People from areas such as Srinagar were seen actively indulging the activities such as shopping of clothes, sweets and other festive items as they are eagerly waiting for the festival so that they could celebrate it with their loved ones. One of the locals stated that they are happy for getting a chance to prepare their festivals without any COVID-19 restrictions. He added that this is a time of celebration and its preparations always makes them happy.

However, the work on the Srinagar Smart City project, the markets are have affected as the traffic diversions and limited parking space have made it difficult and challenging for customers to access the shop easily. Along with that, the COVID has also poised huge economic challenges and the business markets have faced these challenges. People have been losing their interesting in shopping and many people are cautious with their spending due to the financial impact of the pandemic.

One of the shopkeepers said that COVID remain big challenge for them as people have limited buying power which ultimately leads into the decline in the sales during the festive season. However, the spirit of the people to celebrate Eid has made them to come out of their houses with the hopes for better times ahead.

Another local resident asserted that despite the decline in the business and economic growth, they are determined to celebrate Eid with joy and enthusiasm. Eid is the festival of togetherness and happiness and they will never lose the opportunity to celebrate the love.
As Eid is knocking on doors of the people, the residents are eagerly waiting for the celebration amid the work in the Smart City project and the COVID challenges.
