Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce becomes World 100m Champion for fifth time in Oregon

As the World Athletics Championship 2022 is started in Oregon, Jamaica is gearing to go. During the three days of the championship, Jamaica backed several medals in games, and its athletics gained a lot of appreciation.

Kingston, Jamaica: As the World Athletics Championship 2022 is started in Oregon, Jamaica is gearing to go. During the three days of the championship, Jamaica backed several medals in games, and its athletics gained a lot of appreciation. 

Firstly, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce does it again. For the 5th time, she is the World 100m Champion. Fraser Pryce closes day three after storming to a Championship Record of 10.67s (0. to win the title ahead of Shericka Jackson, who ran a PB of 10.73s while Elaine Thompson-Herah placed 3rd in 10.81s).

Further, the Pocket Rocket has come a far way from winning bronze in the 100m at #Boys and Girls Champs for Wolmer’s High School for Girls to being one of the most decorated athletes in history. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a true legendary icon.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson- Herah and Shericka Jackson have produced a historic clean sweep at the end of the event at the World Championships in Oregon. 

Fraser-Pryce delivered a championship record and equalled her season’s best time of 10.67 seconds to win the final of the event. With this huge victory, Fraser-Pryce emerged as the first woman from Jamaica. She becomes part of a clean winning of the women’s 100 metres on three different occasions. She also did so at the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, the Tokyo Summer Games last year and at this year’s staging of the Oregon World Championships.

Reigning Olympic 110 metres hurdles Champion, Hansle Parchment, get an hamstring injury that made him unabke to contest the final of the event in Eugene, Oregon.

Prime Minister of Jamaica- Andrew Holness also ensured his full support to Parchment and noted, “Thank you for representing us at this year’s World Championships Hansle Parchment. We will continue to support you as you recover and prepare for a stronger return.”
