CPL 2022: The 10th edition of the Hero Caribbean Premier League 2022 was won by two-time champions Jamaica Tallawahs on Friday night. Tallawahs defeated Barbados Royals by eight wickets at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Barbados Royals remains on the top in the points table throughout the season after securing a win in most matches. However, Jamaica Tallawahs also remained in the third and second position on the points table. The team became the champion of the CPL 2022 for the third time after winning the title back in 2013 and 2016 as well.
While playing the inning of 83 runs with 13 fours and two sixes in the 50 balls, Brandon King of Tallawahs emerged as the star of the show and remained not out throughout the match. He truly helped the team to chase down the target set of 162 runs by the Barbados Royals.
Firstly, Barbados Royals won the toss and chose to bat first, but the decision for the final match of the CPL 2022 didn’t work well for the team. After Pakistan’s Azam Khan scored 51 runs in the 40 balls, Barbados Royals put up 161 runs on the board with seven losses of the wickets.
The powerplay for Barbados Royals remained quite good after the openers Rakheem Cornwall (36 runs off 21 balls) and Kyle Myers (21 off 19) played the innings of 63 runs. However, after both got out, the team immediately fell into a troubled situation.
Further, the situation became tougher for the Royals after Fabian Allen (3/24) and Nicholas Gordon (3/33) caused damage to the team.
Tallawahs came with a good start when they came to batting, and Brandon King remained a man of the match. Further, when King took charge of the team, Tallawahs won the match and became the champion this year.
Caribbean Premier League 2022 started on August 31, 2022, and concluded on September 30, 2022. Jamaica Tallawahs lifted the trophy of the CPL 2022.
It was quite an interesting journey for the CPL 2022, and the Caribbean witnessed a huge hike in the number of tourists.
