Jamaica: Jamaican police have charged a Twenty-year-old Tommy Powell with the murder of a 10-year-old girl named Jezariah Tyrell on Jauranury 4,2022.

Police had captured the suspect on Friday, December 31, 2021.

Now, in the presence of an attorney, the interview was taken by the police from Towell. After investigating and identifying the proofs thoroughly, police authorities have charged him with murder.

Towell was a labourer of James Street at Kingston. The date for the hearing of the case is yet to be finalised.

The brutal murder of 10 year old kid brought nationwide shock, and people expressed their anger over the crime rate in Jamaica.

The kid was attacked when she was resting at her home at Wildman Street in Kingston with one of her relative on December 30,2021.

According to reports, an intruder started firing at occupants to gain entry at her house. The relative smelled gasoline and investigated when the assailant began firing. In a firing, a 10-year-old was shot and injured.

She was rushed to the hospital and declared dead by the doctors.

Further, Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness also expressed his grief on the brutal murder. He said that the increasing crime rate in the nation is a matter of concern.

PM also mentioned that he is worrisome with the troubling trend of children being victims of murder and violence.

To boost the investigation in the matter, he was also appealed to the citizens of Jamaica to help the police. He said if anyone knew anything about the incident and murders, then report to the police to bring out immediate justice.

Crimes like murder, kidnapping, lynching are increasing in Jamaica as the nation has seen double murder cases on the special occasion of the new year.

Two individuals were shot and killed by an unidentified assailant at Cornwall Mountain in Westmoreland. The probe in the matter is still going on by the Jamaican police authorities.
