Jamaica: Prime Minister Andrew Holness delivered the keynote address at the 8th Annual International Conference and Exhibition (AICE) 2022 on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

While expressing pleasure, PM Holness noted, “It was my pleasure to deliver the keynote address at the 8th Annual International Conference and Exhibition (AICE) 2022 this morning at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St. James.”

He said that Jamaica is an ideal location for special economic zone investments. The AICE conference will introduce new investors to our exciting tourism product and attract major opportunities for the development of large-scale modern special economic zones that will contribute to economic growth, jobs, and prosperity.

PM Holness stressed, “Now is the time to invest in Jamaica.”

He said that the government would never allow criminals to over-run and hold our country hostage. They are updating our laws to effectively prosecute those who wantonly endanger and take the lives of Jamaicans.

Prime Minister Holness asserted, “In my recent Area Council 2 presentation, I made this very point. Criminals, such as those we see in Spanish Town this evening, driving fear into citizens and traumatizing our children, must be strongly and effectively punished within the confines of the law.”

The government of Jamaica will continue to advance our strong actions against crime. They must continue to work together to confront this epidemic by taking firm and decisive measures, including updating our laws and equipping our security forces to better enable crime-fighting.

PM Holness also addressed the inaugural launch of the United Nations Global Alliance for Special Economic Zone (GASEZ) at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, yesterday afternoon.

Free zones have seen tremendous growth over the last 50 years and have become an integral part of the global supply and value chain.

An initiative like the Global Alliance is timely as we modernize these zones across the world to attract the kind of investments that will maximize our contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.Â
