Jamaica is consistently strengthening its security forces: PM Holness

The Prime Minister of the Caribbean island Jamaica- Andrew Holness, during his address has stated that the Jamaican government has been consistently and strategically investing in the nations' security forces.

Jamaica: The Prime Minister of the Caribbean island Jamaica– Andrew Holness, during his address has stated that the Jamaican government has been consistently and strategically investing in the nations’ security forces.

The prime minister stated, “We are committed to improving the conditions under which members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force – JCF serve our citizens. That is why we have been making a massive investment in the upgrade of police stations.”

PM Holness further added that the government is rehabilitating these stations, but we are transforming them into modern, citizen-friendly workspaces which provide officers with comfortable environments which are conducive to work.

The new Mount Salem Police Station further demonstrates a commitment to the residents of Mount Salem that they would continue to support the crime-fighting capacity to significantly bring the murder rate down in the area.

Adding to his statement, the prime minister added, “Every Jamaican, by their actions, would determine how would this COVID-19 pandemic ends.”

PM Holness further noted that the Jamaican government has considered all the captivating arguments advanced in the recrafting of the COVID-19 containment measures. Having done so, the Jamaican government expect compliance with the measures from all the citizens of the island.

“There are new variants emerging that have the capacity to be more deadly and more contagious. We must be vigilant,” the prime minister further stated.

The prime minister further urged every citizen of the country to observe the COVID-19 measures without compromise, take personal responsibility and avoid unnecessary movement. Failure to adhere to the COVID-19 measures would result in spikes which would force the government to take action.

Additionally, the Prime Minister of the Caribbean island Jamaica – Andrew Holness, has been appointed as a member of the Privy Council. The sixth Governor-General of the Caribbean island – Sir Patrick Allen, issued a statement announcing the appointment recently.

The accepted form of official address of the Prime Minister of Jamaica as of today would be, “The Most Honourable Andrew Holness, ON, PC, MP, Prime Minister.” This appointment became effective on May 26, 2021.
