Jamaica: Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness greets people on the New Year occasion through the video message.

He said, “We welcome 2021 with hope and optimism, giving thanks to God for sparing our lives to see this day. I am privileged and grateful to lead this great nation, little in size but large in stature, with endless potential.”

PM added,” As difficult and challenging as it was, 2020 demonstrated that our greatest problems could only be solved when we cooperate and unite in common cause.”

He noted, “In 2021, we will build forward stronger and better together.

Happy New Year! May God bless Jamaica, land we love.

On his message, Olusola, a resident of Jamaica, said, “My Prime Minister, may the Strong Tower with the mighty power be your keeper and helper including your family members in 2021 and beyond in Jesus mighty name and so shall it be amen.”

Prime Minister said that in the time of pandemic Jamaica as a nation tackled very well against the deadly coronavirus and it is till going on. 

He emphasised that we have to follow health-related guidelines until all people do not vaccinate.

For the vaccination, we have different setup committees related to the distribution policy, and we are also assuring Jamaica people to get free vaccinations to all.

The government will engage in the educational campaign all across Jamaica and urge Jamaica to get vaccinated, especially among the vulnerable peoples.

PM Holness also noted that our economy has badly impacted due to this virus previous times.

PM also said that this pandemic highly affected Jamaica’s educational sector, not only educationally but also psychologically.

“But this pandemic also highlighted on our infrastructural boom, as we have broad setup bands, and we also distributed electronic devices to the poor students who can’t afford it,” PM said.

Current Jamaica government is very sensitive towards the concern of the people, and we are looking into all aspects for the benefits for the people, PM Holness highlighted in his message.

 PM said, “As the established setup of the society after the coronavirus, we moved towards the digital society, and for that Jamaica, the government is making its tremendous efforts for that we like other countries in the world also moved towards the digital transactions, we also set up digital identifications.”

Government has taken some development initiatives for the year 2021 

Jamaica government would advance the development of a digital currency; the government would also pass the National Identification Bill.

PM Holness said that his government continues to expand and intensify the programme for financial inclusion.

To develop digitalisation now, Jamaica government would expand broadband internet excess.

PM said,” we will focus on all job recovery plans so that our economy should come back on the track .”
