This will be the first-ever visit by an Indian Head to Jamaica. During the visit, the governor-general of Jamaica, Patrik Allen, will conduct the delegation-level talks with his counterpart President Kovind.
Moreover, Prime Minister Andrew Holness and other dignitaries will also meet the President of India. Reportedly, he will also address the Joint Sitting of the two Houses of Jamaican Parliament.
Jamaica and India have friendly relations as it is one of the Girmitya countries with a 70,000 string Indian diaspora, which acts as a living bridge with India. The visit comes at a significant milestone as 2022 is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Jamaica.
