Jamaica: 18-year-old dies in gun attack

18-year-old shot dead during a possible fallout between players following a lottery scam that escalated into a gun attack resulted in the death of teenager.

Jamaica:Jamaica: A 18-year-old in the Southern part of the Parish, Trelawny was shot dead yesterday afternoon during a possible fallout between players following a lottery scam that escalated into a gun attack resulted in the death of teenager.

The deceased, Raddine Keane has been identified as a resident of Albert Town, Trelawny.

According to the police, Raddine Keane accompanied by his two friends was standing in the Albert Town Square at around 3:30 pm, when they were attacked by armed men. The attackers had alighted from a motor car.

Keane’s two friends were lucky enough and managed to escape.
However, the 18-year-old Raddine Keane was not so lucky. He was brutally shot several times from an extremely close distance. The victim died at the scene.

A video of the incident was also made at the moment which went viral on social media platforms.

No further information has been provided by the police officials, while the investigation is on.

Crime rate in Jamaica from January 1st to October 2nd –

In a short period from January 1 to October 2, a large number of 1,078 murders were recorded in Jamaica. According to Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) crime statistics released recently, a 9.9 percent increase is observed over the same period, last year.

There is a decline of 9.5 percent in the total number of serious and violent crimes committed this year so far. However there is a rise in the number of murders from 981 to 1078, moving the increase to nearly 10 percent above last year’s figure.

The number of serious and violent crimes reported up to last Saturday this year were 3,583, while last year, the number was 3,958.
