St Kitts and Nevis: Dr Terrance Drew, a leader of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, came in support of the bus operators and spoke with them to understand their problem. Drew went to College Street to talk with the bus operators and understand their issues on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

The bus operators provided their vital service to the St Peter’s and Shadwell as well as other nearby stops along the way in the Basseterre community.

Drew explained that these bus drivers were pushed out of the normal parking area the day before without consultation after the traffic lights were turned on.

He further emphasized that there is a huge need to hold an interaction with the bus operators. Drew noted, “The proper thing to have done was to have a meeting with all stakeholders which would have avoided the incident that took place”.

The most surprising thing was that someone called the police when a simple conversation could have avoided that, he added.

Drew also assured the bus operators and stated that he would voice in favour of these operators and also needs to satisfy all the stakeholders

“As I say to the bus operators, I would be their voice to bring about positive change to satisfy the needs of the stakeholders ( bus operators, the passengers and the residents of College Street)”, underscored the leader of a labour party

He emphasized that the bus operators were shown the respect they deserve and called on the St.Peter’s Bus Association to represent the drivers in this debacle.
