Roseau, Dominica: Parliamentary Representative of Roseau Central Constituency- Melissa Poponne Skerrit has provided an update on the Community Waste Storage Improvement Programme on Thursday, May 12, 2022. 

Melissa Skerrit also expressed pleasure over the significant initiatives undertaken to preserve the natural environment. She added, “I am elated to note that further steps are being taken to ensure the preservation of our natural environment.”

She also provided an update on the project and stated that Dominica Solid Waster Management Corporation launched its Community Waster Storage Improvement Programme. The Programme has been launched at the City Breeze Apartments in Roseau Central, which is the parliamentary constituency of Roseau

In her latest social media post, Melissa Skerrit writes, “Last Friday, the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation launched its Community Waste Storage Improvement Program at the City Breeze

in Roseau Central.”

The impact of climate change has several witnessed in the small island nations such as Dominica or the entire region of the Caribbean, which results in Hurricane Maria and Tropical Erika. These impacts have severely damaged Dominica and caused huge destruction, including the destruction of the entire infrastructure of the nature island. 

In addition to that, the government of Dominica aimed to become the first climate-resilient nation through which the country will set an example to promote environment-friendly things. It also helps to reduce the various other impacts of climate change. 

Melissa Skerrit said that the Programme is aimed to improve and boost the efforts in waste management by recycling the products. 

Melissa Skerrit added, “This innovative program aims at improving waste management through the provision of recycling options and fostering an appreciation for cleaner, safer surroundings for generations to come.”

She expressed pleasure after witnessing benefits in Roseau Central and responsible behaviour by residents. 

Melissa Skerrit emphasized, “I am pleased that the City of Roseau has benefitted from this project, as this will help reduce the volume of waste generated daily.”
