Heritage Festival brings fun for the whole family
Tobago: It is going to be an active season of cultural activities when the 2023 Tobago Heritage Festival begins on July 21″ with an Opening Gala at the Shaw Park Complex.
Tobago Heritage Personality and Heritage Calypso Monarch will be part of the opening night. The Tobago Heritage Festival returned last year, after going virtual the previous two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Festival takes place from July 21″ through August 1. On July 22th, the Plymouth J’ouvert and Ole Time Carnival takes place, followed by the Charlotteville Natural Treasures Day on July 24, 2023.
Charlotteville’s Natural Treasures Day presents a full day of activities for visitors, including traditions such as the -Washing of the Dead Bed”, King Cocoa (dancing of the cocoa), and dirt oven baking.
On July 25th, the YAM Festival, Ole Time Village Market Experience, Junior Miss, and little Miss Heritage Competition will be held in the village of Goodwood. Then on July 260, the village of Pem-broke will host the Salaka Feast.
The event recreates an annual thanksgiving festival in celebration of African ancestors for their guidance and favour granted during the past year.
Other events comprising this year’s Festival are-Les Coteau x Folk Tales and Superstitions (July 271 Rum Shop Lime in Scarborough (July 28″), Modah Toba-go Ole Time Wedding (July 299, Tobago Harvest Experience in Speyside (July 30″) and the Sea and Pan Festival in Black Rock (July 31st).
The Emancipation Day Celebration, held in Crown Point, concludes the Festival on August 1, 2023. Tobago Heritage Festival will be held from July 21, 2023 to August 1, 2023.
From the spectacular pageantry of the “Ms. Tobago Heritage Personality” competition on July 21 to the cultural display at Emancipation Day celebrations on August 01, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Tourism Authority said,” There is something for everyone, so come immerse yourself as we pay HOMAGE to “All Ah We” and “All Ah Who Ahwe Be.”
