Guyana receives Humanitarian Plaque from Barbados for assistance against COVID

Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali received the Humanitarian Plaque, which was awarded to the Government of Guyana on behalf of the Government of Barbados for assistance in the fight against Covid-19 on Friday, April 28, 2022. 

The Government and people of Guyana have been recognized for the assistance provided to Barbados in the fight against Covid-19.

The Humanitarian Plaque was initially received by Acting Consul General of Guyana in Barbados, Ms Geneva Tyndall (in photo), on Thursday, April 28, at the Government of Barbados inaugural Humanitarian Award Ceremony held at the Kensington Oval on Heroes Day.

The President stopped over in Barbados for a meeting on his way home from London, England, where he held engagements with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson; Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales; UK and EU business officials, and members of the Guyanese diaspora.

President Dr Irfaan Ali met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company Ltd (GTT), Damian Blackburn, and the Chief Operations Officer of GTT Business Solutions, Orson Ferguson.

The meetings took place today, on day three of the President’s visit to London, where he attended the Guyana Investment Seminar and the Caribbean Council’s House of Lords annual reception.

GTT is one of the corporate sponsors of the event held by the Caribbean Council.

The Head of State was accompanied by the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, the Honourable Oneidge Walrond and the Director of Projects Office of the President, Marcia Nadir-Sharma.
