Guyana: President Dr. Irfaan Ali received a courtesy visit from the President of the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC), Guyanese-born Dr. Colwick Wilson. He has been accompanied by his team to the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
USC is a Seventh-Day Adventist university and its headquarter has resided in Trinidad with a campus in Queenstown, Georgetown.
As per the reports, the meeting focused on collaborative ways to enhance the function of the university locally, especially in relation to programmes and opportunities.
The attendees have also discussed various ways to further uplift the infrastructure of the campus of the university. It is also featured several other factors to enhance the programmes and opportunities for the students.
Vice President for Student Services and Enrolment Management Pastor Onesi La Fleur; President of the Guyana Conference of Seven Days Adventist Pastor Exton Clarke; Dean of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship Dr Sherri-Lynn Legall and recent graduate of USC Trea Johnson were also part of the meeting.
Further, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, Dr Irfaan Ali also held a meeting this afternoon with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Private Sector Head, James Scriven, and members of his team.
The meeting was hosted at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.
Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh was, also joined the meeting with the President of Guyana.
Dr Irfaan Ali also accepted the Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of the Republic of Suriname to Guyana, Liselle Blankendal.
Further, the letter was based on the Shiv Chanderpaul Drive and also recommended by the President of Guyana, Irfaan Ali.
The simple accreditation ceremony was done at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.
Guyana and Suriname established bilateral relations in 1975.
