Guyana President meets family members of late Anthony Cort

President of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali, on Sunday,22 March 2021, met family members of the late Anthony Cort at Sandy's Funeral Parlour to bid farewell to the 10-year-old, who tragically lost his life on March 11.

Guyana: President of Guyana, Dr. Irfaan Ali, on Sunday,22 March 2021, met family members of the late Anthony Cort at Sandy’s Funeral Parlour to bid farewell to the 10-year-old, who tragically lost his life on March 11.

The young man was killed during a home invasion in Sophia.
President Ali comforted Cort’s mother, Denise McPherson, and other relatives gathered to say their final goodbyes.

The President noted that this is a time for all Guyanese to unite in prayers in support of the grieving family.

“As a Nation, let us come together and pray for this family who tragically lost their loved one and for all of the other families who have also lost loved ones in this pandemic.”

Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd, accompanied the President and also offered their condolences to the family.

Public reaction :

Shonia Singh said, “One of the hardest thing to cope with”death” with comforting words and support; it really means a lot to the family, especially the parents, in such a time. I love the support of our President, Prime Minister etc .”

Bibi Khan added, “God gives, and he takes its not an easy way to go through this time of losing a loved one who feels it knows it my condolences to the families that God give them that faith and strength to go through this time of losing loved ones he is in the arms of Jesus Christ . ”

Bethal noted, “I feel the Sincerity of the President towards this family..no big hurrah just Genuine care. May this little Angel soul SIP and his family find the strength and comfort they will need in God Almighty.”

John added, “Hats off to the President. You are doing an amazing job by showing your compassion to the family when mourning for their love one. Condolences to the bereaved family. Rest In Peace, Little Angel.”
