Guyana: President Irfaan Ali greets people on festive occasion of Eid

Firstly, President Irfaan Ali attended prayers at the Muslim Youth Organisation in Woolford Avenue and the Leonora Masjid. He later entertained hundreds of persons at his home in Leonora, after which he visited and interacted with several families in the village.

Guyana: On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, President Dr Irfaan Ali and his family took part in a series of activities and extended their warm wishes to the people of Guyana. He also interacted with the general public and presented Eidi (gifts) to them, and attended prayers at Masjid.

Firstly, President Irfaan Ali attended prayers at the Muslim Youth Organisation in Woolford Avenue and the Leonora Masjid. He later entertained hundreds of persons at his home in Leonora, after which he visited and interacted with several families in the village.

On Monday, May 2, 2022, President Dr Irfaan Ali and First Lady Arya Ali joined with community members in Leonora, West Coast Demerara, to take part in the festive celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The First Family led scores of residents to several Muslim homes in the community to participate in the traditional house-to-house visit to indulge in sweet treats.

During their house-to-house visit, President also interacted with the common people and made their festive occasion special. They also opened their home in Leonora for a similar activity.

Prior to the celebrations, the Head of State had delivered an Eid message at the Leonora Sunnatul Jamaat, where he spoke about Islamic values, love, family, camaraderie and equality.

Further, Dr Irfaan Ali also took part in the Eid-ul-Fitr Prayer at the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) ground in Woolford Avenue, Georgetown, in the morning to celebrate the occasion with warm prayers. 

The Head of State also delivered a message in observance of Eid where he spoke about values, compassion, family ties and togetherness while calling for Guyanese to focus on commonalities in demonstrating our humanity.

Following his message, the President distributed gifts to all the children there. Eid-ul-Fitr is a celebration that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. It is a time of festivity and charity.

Besides, President Irfaan Ali also addressed the nation on the occasion of Labour Day and outlined the importance of Labours. He hosted union leaders for breakfast on the occasion of Labour Day.
