Georgetown, Guyana:Guyana is touching the new height of development under President Dr Irfaan Ali’s leadership. A step ahead in this Government of Guyana would be looking at areas on the Mahaica-Mahaicony corridor to cultivate new developmental hubs.

Dr Ali made this declaration while delivering the keynote speech at the Demerara Bank Mahaica branch’s opening.

In the occasion, PM said “Your Government has recognised a series of areas that will become new development hubs, new growth poles. So very soon we will be looking at all the lands on this corridor – Mahaica-Mahaicony. We will be looking at all the lands to come up with the perfect diversification plans.”

President Dr Irfaan Ali revealed that since Mahaica and its environs are heavily dependent on rice and other agriculture, the Government is looking to create an agriculture hub, which should also see aquaculture development.

To promote this, the Government would develop programmes and policies that would encourage and stimulate growth in the areas; however, it would also give enormous incentives for future investments.

President noted that “Our intention in creating a whole new array of infrastructure is to ensure the travel time between the centre and the outskirts is not inhibitive to business development and growth.”

On this development resident of Guyana reacted positively,Turu said, “am proud of the great development in the village of Mahaica it feels joyful and happy.”

Another resident of Guyana Geana Bhjan urged “What is this President doing for people living in Corentyne Berbice? A resident of Corentyne Berbice- please raise your voices and concerns about your part of the country. Please speak up about Beautifying Corentyne Berbice. There are so many shortages in Corentyne Berbice. You guys need better roads, artisan wells, sidewalks, signages, Public markets toilets, public markets parking areas, drainage and irrigation along the main roads, paved roads into squatting areas. Much much more. Speak up, people. People in BBP needs more sources of water. This part of the country produces food supplies to feed the masses. Beautifying BBP should be a priority of this President. Flowery language is not enough.”
