Gros Islet registers victory over Vieux Fort South in Saint Lucia National Cricket Tournament

Castries, Saint Lucia: Gros Islet registered a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Vieux Fort South as the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association Senior Male Super 50 Cricket Tournament continued over the weekend.

On Sunday, July 24, at the Piaye Playing Field, Vieux Fort South, batting first was dismissed for 104 in 25.2 overs, with Asa Joseph making 26, Shelton St. Rose 19 and Dishon Rampal 12.

The wicket takers for Gros Islet were; seam bowler Kymani Sexius with 5 for 27 in 8 overs, off spinner Royce Paul 4 for 21 in 9.2 overs and 1 wicket to left arm orthodox spinner; Rene Montoute.

In reply, Gros Islet, led by a classy 41 from Zidane Arthur, Khan Elcock 28, captain Jard Goodman 13 not out and Vidal Crandon 12 not out, easily got to their target, finishing on 106 for 2 in 11 overs.

The wicket takers for Vieux Fort South were; Shelton St Rose and Shon Francois with 1 wicket each.

The 5th Annual Northern Cluster Grassroots Summer Cricket Camp Programme continued on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.

Seventy one (71) young male and female cricketers between the ages of 5 and 19 thoroughly enjoyed the activities of Camp Day # 3.

The activities took the following format:

> Prayers/ Welcome/ Fines Meeting.

> Ice Breaking activity.

> Warm up activities (fun catching games).

> Nets.

> Introduction to hardball with group ages 4-11.

> Fielding, Catching, Target Throwing and Backing up with 4-11 age group (fun)

> Mini Cricket Match.
