Castries, Saint Lucia: The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association/ Sandals Under 19 Cup got on the way on Saturday, February 11, 2023, with Gros Islet earning a hard fought 35 run victory over the Saint Lucia Sports Academy.
Gros Islet Under 19’s batting first after been inserted by St Lucia Sports Academy was dismissed for 215 in 43.3. The main scorers were, Sanjay Francis with 38, Johnathan Daniel 36, captain Tarrique Edward with 30, Ryan Goodman with 19, Bolton Sayers with 18 and Lee John with 10.
The wicket takers for the St Lucia Sports Academy were Theo Edward with 4 for 57 in 10 overs, Kevin Gassie 2 for 18 in 7 overs, Jerlani Joseph with 2 for 32 in 6.3 overs and one wicket each to Kensley Paul and Nathaniel Joseph.
In reply, the St Lucia Sports Academy made 180 all out in 48.2 overs with Kensley Paul making 46, captain Theo Edward 22, Ashton Alexander 15, Noel Leo 13 and Jelani Joseph 11.
The wicket takers for Gros Islet were Lee John, 3 for 19 in 10 overs, captain Tarrique Edward with, 3 for 46 in 9.2 overs, Leon Alexander with 2 for 19 in 8 overs and one wicket to Ryan Goodman.
RESULT: GROS ISLET UNDER 19 DEFEATED THE ST LUCIA SPORTS ACADEMY BY 35 RUNS.
