Under 19 Sandals Cricket Champions Gros Islet, Crowned with a record five wins (titles) at Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort. The awards ceremony took place on Friday evening in Saint Lucia.

In attendance were the Minister of Youth Development and Sports, Kenson Casimir, Managing Director – of Sandals Saint Lucia – Winston Anderson, Sandals Regional Public Relations Manager – Sunil Ramdeen, and other members of the Public Relations Unit, Acting Director of Sports, Clivus Jules, Curriculum Specialist for Physical Education – Dave Albert, President of the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association – Julian Charles, and members of his executive, Cricket Operations Manager – Shawn Alcindor, former International Cricket Commentator – Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreria, Guest Speaker, Rahym Augustin – Joseph, the winning teams and a few parents.

Addressing the gathering were Sunil Ramdeen, Winston Anderson, Kenson Casimir, Julian Charles, Dave Albert, Rahym Augustin – Joseph, and Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreria. In awards presented on the evening, in the Main Championship – Royce Paul MVP, Khan Elcock – MVP finals, Most Wickets – Royce Paul, Most Runs – Khan Elcock.

Champion Team – Gros Islet and Runners Up – Central Castries.
In the Plate Division – Most Runs, Wean Deterville, and Most Wickets – Isiah Jones. Champion Team – Mabouya Valley, Runners Up – Gros Islet B.

Today, June 19th, 2023, the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Presented St. Joseph’s Convent with the 2023 Island Champs Female Team Trophy. The school’s sports department also received the Winner’s cheque presented to Principal, Sister Rufina by Permanent Secretary Caroline Eugene.

Music and Arts Workshop for Youth Workers facilitated by Shirleyann Cyril-Mayers, The Assistant Youth Development Officer. This initiative is geared towards equipping our Youth Workers with skills and various methods of teaching to be utilized in their programmes and interactions with youth.

Permanent Secretary Caroline Eugene has received a token of appreciation from the Prime Minister for her 38 years of service.
