The Under 19 teams representing the Member Councils of Grenada Cricket Association (GCA) are finalising their preparation for the start of the 2023 edition of the GCA Under 19 Super50 Cup beginning Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Grenada: The Under 19 teams representing the Member Councils of Grenada Cricket Association (GCA) are finalising their preparation for the start of the 2023 edition of the GCA Under 19 Super50 Cup beginning Saturday, February 25, 2023.
The tournament will be held on a zonal basis with Carriacou and Petite Martinique, St David, and St George making up Zone A and St Andrew, St Mark, and Saint Patrick making up Zone B. The Winners and Runners ups of the two zones will battle each other in the semi-finals to earn a spot in the final card for March 12.
The GCA Under 19 Super50 Cup has seen the emergence of several outstanding youth cricketers in recent times who have gone on to represent Grenada, the Windward Islands, and the West Indies at the youth and senior levels.
Teddy Bishop the 2022 Junior Sportsman of the year along with Emmanuel Stewart, Ryan John, Johann Jeremiah, and Divione Joseph are some of the outstanding performers in the tournament’s recent history.
Three matches are carded for the tournament’s opening weekend to be played at separate venues across the island. In the opening encounter on Saturday, February 25, 2023, St. Andrew the beaten finalist in last year’s tournament host St. Mark at Progress Park.
On Sunday, February 26, 2023, the action continues with matches played in the north and south of the island. Defending champions St. David battles St. George at the National Cricket Stadium.
St. Mark’s second match of the weekend sees them visit their neighbours to the north St. Patrick for a showdown at River Sallee. Carriacou will enter the tournament on the second weekend of action. The cricketers from the sister isles will travel to the mainland to battle the other teams (St. David and St. George) in their zone for a spot in the semi-finals.
The matches will consist of 50 overs per side, and the action bowls off at 10:00 a.m. on match days. Members of the public are encouraged to turn out in their numbers and support the young players throughout the tournament.
The 2023 tournament forms part of the national team’s preparation for their participation in the Windward Islands U19 tournament scheduled for April 2023.
