Grenada: Six players from Carriacou has been selected on the National U-15 Cricket team for several tournament and championships at the regional and international level.
The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government has also offered support to the development of local cricketers.
Besides this, the national team will also participate trial sessions in St George’s, Grenada. The athletes will be taught the techniques and ways of improving their game.
The Ministry, under the leadership of Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Tevin Andrews has provided the tickets for the players from Carriacou, who were selected on the National Under-15 Cricket Team, to attend trial sessions in St. George’s.
The six (6) players named Zahkyle Thompson, Taeshon Joseph, Xavion Simon, Kimareau Martineau, Kimon Joseph and Dension John have been participating in a series of matches.
Further, the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government also in the preparation of selecting the team for the Windward Islands Under-15 Tournament. The tournament will be held in Grenada in December 2023.
“The second round of matches for the selection of the National Under-15 Cricket Team was held in Carriacou recently. This is in preparation for the Windward Islands Under-15 Tournament which is scheduled to be held in Grenada in December,”said the Ministry.
The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government extends congratulations to the six (6) cricketers from Carriacou.
Meanwhile, the Junior Murray Cricket Academy is scheduled to visit Carriacou this weekend for a series of matches.
The six players will represent the Carriacou and other sister islands of Grenada at different national championships and tournament of cricket. The Ministry has also extended financial assistance to the athletes for their great work.
The performance of the athletes will be enhanced with their assistance. They are making efforts to enhance the sporting skills in the country.
