Grenada: Prime Minister of Grenada Dr Keith Mitchell extended congratulations message to the political leader of Saint Lucia Labour party (SLP), Philip J. Pierre, following his landslide victory in General Elections 2021.

PM Mitchell said, ” I sent a letter to Prime Minister-elect Philip Pierre, in which I also extended personal congratulations to him for winning his seat on six consecutive occasions.”

Prime Minister noted that the people of St. Lucia have spoken decisively through votes.

“The election results represent a resounding vote of confidence in a period when so many things are uncertain, as we continue to contend with the widespread impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.

Being a current Chairman of the OECS Authority, he looks forward to working with the Prime Minister-elect at the regional level, particularly in the context of the coronavirus pandemic and the regional tourism industry, as it relates to cruise tourism and the accommodation sector.

Notably, Pierre will take oath as the Prime Minister of St Lucia today, on 28 July 2021, at 4 PM.

In his manifesto statement, the political leader had said that St Lucia has gone through a very trying time of mismanagement under a UWP administration. He had promised to rescue the country from an economic as well as financial disaster which was an outcome of the coronavirus crisis and its management.

After election results, UWP leader Allen Chastanet expressed deep shock on outcomes.

St Lucia is an Eastern Caribbean island nation with a pair of dramatically tapered peaks, the Pitons, on its west coast. Its shore is home to volcanic beaches, reef-diving sites, luxury resorts, including fishing villages.

Trails in the interior rainforest lead to waterfalls like the 15m-high Toraille, which pours over a cliff into a garden.

Additionally, several world leaders expressed greetings to the new elected prime minister of St Lucia.
