Minister Steele was questioned by a few reporters after Cabinet media briefing that, whether the other ministers in the cabinet had got their COVID-19 booster shot.

While answering the questions, Minister Steele stated, “Yes, Dr Shawn Charles was able to convince me on Sunday to take the booster, and before I faltered or contemplated it further, Dr Shawn had stuck the needle in my arm and given me the booster.”

Minister further stated that he also took his booster shot because being Health Minister, he always remains at the frontline, and the risk exists everywhere now. He got shot, although he is not over the age of 65.

On 1st November PM, Keith Mitchell had also got shot and shared information about it on his Facebook. He got his booster shot after consulting the Acting CMO.

The Prime Minister stated, “Based on recent guidance that recommends the booster shot for persons who received two doses of AstraZeneca, I thought it best to bolster my immunity to COVID-19.”

According to the statement of Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Shawn Charles at the present time, the COVID-19 booster dose is not available for the public. It will eventually be for persons identified as requiring a booster shot.

The Acting CMO said, “Right now, it is just a question of inventory, the number of doses we have available to the population and the number we can make available for boosters.”

The Minister of Health says currently Grenada has zero stock in AstraZeneca on the island. Steele notes Trinidad and Tobago sent 2,000 doses of Pfizer over the weekend, which is presently being utilised.
