Grenada: The Grenada national accreditation board has issued reminders for the Grenadines to be aware of fake colleges and universities as they seek to pursue higher education.

Accreditation offers by the Grenada national accreditation board Daniel Lazarus said that there are fraudulent companies set up as colleges and universities as well as fake accreditation entities which could rob people of their hard-earned money.

“We applaud any and all efforts of self-development but in doing so we encourage you to be vigilant when applying to certain programmes and institutions. Remember that education is a business- a tradable service and there are many who seek to make substantial profits illegally and illegitimately,” she added.

She further emphsized that in the quality assurance industry these are known as diploma mills and they should be avoided at all costs as if this wasn’t bad enough there are also fake accrediting agencies known as accreditation mills that claim to carry out external quality assurance activities for bogus higher education institutions in order to keep them or to make them look legitimate and this is just the tip of the fraudulent iceberg money for most is a scarce commodity and education is an expensive business

She further stressed that do not risk wasting your hard-earned resources.

Lazarus was speaking at the recent registration certification presentation ceremony at the Tier Marshall Community College Tam CC which signals that the institution has completed the first step in attaining accreditation by the Grenada national accreditation board is encouraging those who are unsure about a college or university that they are interested in to contact the board for assistance at 435-1970
