Grenada Football Association to provide scholarships to 12 young footballers, including eight women

Grenada: Grenada Football Association took to social media and announced the recipients of the scholarship and stated that they would scholarship assistance to 12 young footballers, out of which eight were women. 

The Grenada Football Association is proud to provide scholarship assistance to 12 young footballers, eight of which are young women- a historic number. 

While extending gratitude to the government, the Association stated that the Government of Grenada, through the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, provides assistance of EC$140, 000 towards the scholarships to make their dreams come true. 

“We caught up with five of the scholarship recipients as they left Grenada for their various colleges across the USA. Our General Secretary Bernadine Andrew and Women’s Football Representative Cazirah Thomas were at the MBIA to provide words of support,” said the Association. 

The following are their names, colleges and programmes of study:

  • Shaniah Johnson- Lewis and Clark Community College- Operations Management
  • Keldonna Jeffrey- Lewis and Clark Community College-Accounting
  • Judy S McIntosh- Otero Community College- General Studies
  • Sheranda Charles Alisha Charles- Otero Community College- General Studies
  • Erin Sylvester- Lewis and Clark Community College- Pharmacy

They said, “Special thanks also to Jake Rennie Jakoman Rennie for laying the groundwork for many of these young ladies.” 

On the other hand, the association also extended gratitude to Grenada for helping them to show our love and appreciation to the National teams and coaching staff who represented our nation at regional competitions during the month of August. Our appreciation motorcade took us island-wide as we expressed our gratitude to the teams and introduced them to the general public.
