Govt of Guyana signs MoU with Canadian Commercial Cooperation

Dr Irfaan Ali participated in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Government of Guyana and the Canadian Commercial Cooperation.

Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali participated in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Government of Guyana and the Canadian Commercial Cooperation. The signing ceremony was held at the office of the President of Guyana in the afternoon on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. 

The President of Guyana outlined various aspects of the MoU, which will assist various sectors in the country. 

The MOU is intended to facilitate cooperation, participation in discussions and exchange of information considered to be of mutual interest and benefit regarding the identification and development of opportunities related to the procurement of Canadian goods and services identified for consideration by select ministries or departments, agencies or organisations of the Government of Guyana. 

With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, the government of Guyana wanted to develop and create the various opportunities which would facilitate the efficient procurement of Canadian goods and services. ‘

A signing ceremony held between govt of Guyana and Canadian Cooperation

Further, the MOU was signed by the Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh and the Canadian Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business & Economic Development, Mary Ng.

Prior to the signing of the MOU, President Ali and a high-level cabinet team featuring Dr Ashni Singh; Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill; Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha; Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond; and Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indart met with Ng and her delegation.

Further, on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, President Dr Irfaan Ali also accepted the Letters of Credence from H.E Carlos Amador Pérez Silva, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Guyana, today, at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.

President Ali was joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Elisabeth Harper.
