Government’s new restrictions are without proper plan: Kamla Persad

Trinidad and Tobago: Leader of the Opposition Party – Kamla Persad Bissesar once again targets the government and stated that the new adjustments to the COVID-19 protocols are done without any proper plan, same as the last year’s lockdown measures.

Bissesar asserted that “The PM has said once again that the nation has no money and therefore it is inadequate to provide any assistance to the businesses and individuals who would suffer in upcoming weeks due to the economic effects of these measures.”

Following the statement, she further cited that “There is a relevant need to do everything it takes to safeguard the lives and welfare of our residents but this should be done while protecting the ability to put food on their tables of citizens.

The ruling party’s strategy that “We all are in this together” – rings hollow, given that the PM spent a huge part of his presentation blaming the residents for flow in the COVID-19 cases.

She further stated that people might have thought that country’s PM after recovering from COVID-19 would lead a different approach to the rise in the cases.

“Instead, PM in his usual style, came and blamed the citizens for the recent spike in the cases, conveniently forgetting that he recently had a disturbance in T&T, where PM eventually contracted the virus,” declared Bissesar.

The opposition’s leader said that “These lockdowns will not impact the government as the ruling party and their friends clearly keep themselves above the law of the nation.”

Bissesar further stated that to hide and divert attention from his government’s failure the Leader of the country- PM Rowley blamed the citizens of the nations and vaccines and older citizens.

“PM Rowley and his Government refused to acknowledge their failure to guard our maritime borders as it is quite possible that the Brazilian Variant came through the illegal migrant who from South America crossed the porous border,” – Kamla Persad.

Concluding her statement she pointed out that “PM Rowley’s government is working without any plan and continues to punish and blame hard-working citizens of the nation for their own government’s failures and the citizens, without any doubt would end up paying the price for his government’s continued failure.”
