Government issues new testing requirements to enter the Bahamas

Government of Bahamas on Monday announced new testing requirements for international and domestic travellers.

Bahamas: Government of Bahamas on Monday announced new testing requirements for international and domestic travellers. The office of the Prime Minister advised that effective from Friday, 6 August 2021, those persons applying for a travel health visa to enter the Bahamas or travel within the Bahamas will be subjected to the new testing requirements.

Vaccinated Travelers
All fully vaccinated travellers wanting to enter the Bahamas will now be required to take a COVID-19 test (Rapid Antigen Test or PCR), with the negative result, within five days of entry in the Bahamas.

Unvaccinated Travelers
There are no modifications to the testing requirements for unvaccinated persons wanting to enter the Bahamas. All persons, who are 12 years and older and who are unvaccinated, will still be asked to obtain a PCR test taken within five days of entry in the Bahamas.

Children and Infants
All children within the ages of 2 and 11, requesting to enter the Bahamas will now be asked to obtain a COVID-19 test (Rapid Antigen Test or PCR), with a negative result, within five days of entry in the Bahamas.

All children, under the age of two, are excluded from any testing conditions.

Cruise Passengers
All travellers entering the Bahamas on a cruise ship will be subjected to the testing specifications mandated by the cruise line and recommended by the responsible authority.

Travelling Within the Bahamas

Vaccinated Travelers
All fully vaccinated travellers wanting to travel within the Bahamas will now be asked to obtain a Covid 19 test with a negative result, in five days of the journey date from the subsequent islands: Grand Bahama, Bimini, Exuma, New Providence, Abaco and South and North Eleutheram, including Harbour Island.

Unvaccinated Travelers
For all unvaccinated travellers wanting to travel within the Bahamas, all persons who were 12 years and older and who are unvaccinated will still be required to take a PCR test in five days of journey date. This now applies to journey from the subsequent islands: Grand Bahama, Bimini, Exuma, New Providence, Abaco and South and North Eleutheram, including Harbour Island.

Domestic trip health Visa fees will be waived off for all Bahamians and residents moving in the Bahamas.
