Roseau, Dominica: Denise Charles- Minister of Tourism, has announced the appointment of Nigerian Gospel Artist Osinachi Joseph Egbu, popularly known as Sinach, is the Global Ambassador of Dominica.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit conferred the honour on Sinach via letter dated February 9, 2023.
“In his official letter to the acclaimed gospel singer, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit indicated that given Sinach’s international reach, with a following of over 1.8 million cutting across over 100 countries, a major part
of her assignment will be to assist in the promotion of Dominica’s national interest in various fields.
“More specifically, she will use her global influence to promote Dominica as an attractive destination for tourism and investment,” Charles said.
According to the Minister, Sinach will assist Dominica to further advance its sustainable tourism platform, which invites visitors to immerse themselves in the unspoiled beauty of the Nature Island while being respectful of the country’s efforts to protect its natural assets.
She said Sinach had, over the years, formed a close bond with Dominica which makes her the perfect fit for this new role.
“She first visited Dominica in 2018 after Hurricane Maria, and hosted a National Gospel Concert to bring hope to our affected population. While on island, she visited the State Prison and Dominica Infirmary where she
connected, prayed and worshiped with residents. Having fallen in love with the Nature Isle, she returned in 2022 with friends and family to celebrate her milestone 50th birthday,” the Minister noted.
“We are honoured that she has accepted this important role as Dominica’s global ambassador,” she added.
Sinach is one of the most popular gospel artists in Africa and the first gospel singer from Africa to win the Song of the Year at the Dove Awards, and also the first to top the Billboard Christian Songwriter Chart for 12 weeks in a row.
Her song Way Maker has been sung in over 50 languages across the globe with over 220 million views. With millions of followers on social media, Sinach is also named one of the top 100 most reputable persons on earth by reputation Poll International and the top female Artist of the Decade by the Bethlehem Hall of Fame.
The Ministry of Tourism of Dominica stated, “We are excited to announce that Gospel Superstar, Sinach, is now a Global Ambassador for Dominica. The Ministry of Tourism looks forward to collaborating with Sinach to promote sustainable Tourism in Dominica.”
