This year 2022, the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships will be staged in Lima, Peru at the Videna Aquatic Center. The competition will take place over six (6) days with preliminary heats in the sessions of the morning and the semi-finals and finals in the evening session. The meet will be open to Girls 14 to 17 year olds and Boys 15 to 18 years old.

Four junior athletes holding the highest FINA points in their age category qualified to compete and represent Saint Lucia. Naima Hazell, Nakeisha Louis, D’Andre Blanchard and Tristan Dorville are well set to take on the challenge at this prestigious international level of swimming.
Accompanying the swimmers will be head coach Brian Charles and Team Manage Tessa Louis Charles. With a competition date of August 30th to September 4th, SLAF and the swimming fraternity wishes the team all the best on their journey and encourages you all to swim hard.
Earlier, Saint Lucia witnessed Soufriere’s under17 basketball team (Soufriere Young Kings) played their first game in the Saint Lucia Basketball Association’s under17 tournament on August 23rd at the Vigie Sports Complex. Soufriere Young Kings defeated ECA Lions of Castries 28-19. Soufriere’s next game is scheduled for Thursday August 25th 2022.
Further, Saint Lucia also hosted THE 26TH ANNUAL Goodwill Swim meet took place from 19th-20th-21st August 2022 in Trinidad and hosted by the Aquatic Sports Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
The participating countries were Bahamas, Jamaica, St Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname with a total of 177 swimmers. St Lucia was represented by 28 swimmers.
Sapphire Parks set a new SC Age Group record for 8 & Under girls 100M Freestyle. The previous record was held by Fayth Jeffrey (1:21.20). Sapphire reset the record with a time of 1:18.25. Sapphire parks was the high point winner in the 8 and Under age group with 45 points. She also broke the girls 8 and under 50M backstroke which was held by Allie Capasso in 2016.
