Four cruises including World’s largest ship- “Wonder of the Seas” voyage to St Kitts and Nevis

St Kitts and Nevis: Four cruise ships graced the shores of St Kitts and Nevis named Aida Vida, MSC Seaside, Regal Princess and Wonder of The Seas (the World’s largest cruise ship) with 15,904 ship passengers on Thursday, February 17, 2023. 

Passengers had a lot to witness and experience in the magnificent twin-island Federation. Denzil Douglas- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, took to Facebook and shared glimpses of the arrival of the cruise ship to the shores of St Kitts and Nevis. 

He expressed pleasure and welcomed the cruise passengers and cited, “FOUR Cruise Ships graced our beautiful shores today with 15,904 cruise ship passengers.” 

Denzil Douglas stated that the increase in Cruise ships and Tourist arrivals to our beautiful destination will definitely result in increase social and economic benefits to all stakeholders, the country and the people as a whole. 

Cruise activity bolsters the destination as passengers discover unspoilt beauty and rich experiences. St Kitts and Nevis is pleased to celebrate yet another quintuple cruise day as it welcomes Aida Vida, MSC Seaside, Regal Princess, Star Flyer, and the World’s largest cruise vessel Wonder of The Seas, to its shores.

 An astonishing cruise pax of 15,904 cruise passengers offers invaluable economic opportunities for tourism stakeholders indicating the island’s persistent growth as a tourist destination.

St Kitts has a population of about 50,000, the majority of whom are of African descent. The primary language is English, with a literacy rate of approximately 98%. Residents call themselves Kittitians.

It’s known for cloud-shrouded mountains and beaches. Many of its former sugar plantations are now inns or atmospheric ruins. The larger of the two islands, St Kitts, is dominated by the dormant Mount Liamuiga volcano, home to a crater lake, green vervet monkeys and rainforest crisscrossed with hiking trail. 

The cruise port Zante serves the capital city of Saint Kitts and Nevis – an island country in the West Indies (Caribbean Sea). Port Zante is located in a bay on St Kitts Island’s southwestern coast. The other cruise port in the country is Charlestown (on Nevis Island).

This is one of the oldest in the Eastern Caribbean. It was established by France in 1627, under Pierre Belain d’Esnambuc (1585-1637). Port Basseterre is one of Leeward Islands’ major commercial seaports.

The St Kitts Tourism Authority is leading by example with an organizational recycling project to promote sustainability among its staff. The initial phase focused on collecting plastic bottles, which were then responsibly disposed of through Solid Waste Management and Recycling Project.
