Five contestants all set to vie for Miss Dominica 2023 throne
Roseau, Dominica: Dominica Festivals introduced five contestants for Miss Dominica 2023 pageant slated for February 16, 2023, at the Carnival City. It is one of the events of the Carnival- Mas Domnik 2023, which is the platform to showcase the vibrant culture of the Nature Isle.
Contestant No. 1- Meeya Francis
Last Saturday, Contestant #1 for Miss Dominica 2023 officially launched in her communities! As part of the Mahaut Village Carnival, Meeya Francis, sponsored by De Construction Solutions/Convenience Plus paraded through the village with cultural displays by bwa bwa, sensory, bacchanal women, and the Mahaut Bouyon Lapo Kabwit and featured our very own bouyon band Signal Band.
The ceremony highlighted Meeya and her journey to joining the Miss Dominica pageant with remarks by the Honorable Cassani Laville, her sponsors De Construction Solutions/Convenience Plus, and support from her fellow contestants.
Contestant No. 2: Moesha Thomas
Last Friday, Dominica Festivals officially launched contestant #2 Moesha Thomas, in her village Petite Soufriere. The community came alive with the rhythm of the lapo kabwit and chants of support for Moesha.
The village launch featured guest speakers from Senator Austelle Lockhart, her sponsor Dominica National Lottery, members from Team Moesha, and the contestant herself.
Contestant No. 3: Adicia Burton
On Sunday, Dominica Festivals officially launched Contestant #3 Adicia Burton and Miss Petro Caribe 2023, in the Kalinago Territory. Adicia paraded through each hamlet of the Kalinago territory to invite her community to support her on the journey to the throne. The parade also featured a cultural Kalinago display.
The launch ceremony highlighted Adicia’s story with remarks by the Honorable Cozier Frederick and the Kalinago Chief Lorenzo Standford, with support from her sponsors Petro Caribe and her fellow queen contestants.
Contestant No. 4- Tarnia Eugene
Last Saturday, Dominica Festivals joined in for Mas Gwabe to launch contestant #4 for Miss Dominica 2023 – Tarnia Eugene! South City was pulsating with cultural and contemporary displays parading through the streets, featuring Signal Band.
The launch ceremony featured Dr Vince Henderson, Eastern Caribbean representatives and local staff of the Republic Bank ltd, Team Tarnia representatives and Tarnia herself.
Contestant No. 5- Sandrin Elizee
On Sunday, contestant #5 Sandrin Elizee was officially launched in her community Kingshill! The motorcade featured contemporary carnival displays from Hysteria Mas, the NBD Flagwavers, the NBD mascot, and stiltwalkers.
The ceremony featured guest speakers, Chekira Lockhart Hypolite, the National Bank of Dominica (sponsors for Sandrin Elizee), Team Sandrin representatives, and the contestant. Daddy Chess and Marie Pascale also performed live at the launch to support Miss National Bank of Dominica, Sandrin Elizee.
