Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit mourned the passing of Akinyi McIntyre- wife of Dr Irving McIntyre, Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience and Social Security of Dominica, on Thursday, December 5, 2023.
He extended condolences to Dr McIntyre on behalf of the government and people of Dominica and cited, “On behalf Akinyi of the Government and People of Dominica, I extend deepest condolences to Dr Irving McIntyre on the passing of his dear wife, Akinyi.”
She died early this morning after a prolonged illness. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit extended sympathies to her children, family, and loved ones. He also extended full support to Dr McIntyre and his family during the moment of loss.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit asserted, “I express heartfelt sympathies to Akinyi McIntyre’s children and her extended family and wish them peace and comfort in this moment of loss. Please know that you have my full support during this difficult time. May God bless you and grant you solace.”
Wife of Finance Minister Dr Irving McIntyre- Akinyi McIntyre died due to cancer at the age of 50. She died at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital. Akinyi McIntyre was the mother of two boys.
The citizens of Dominica also extended condolences on the passing of Akinyi McIntrye. One of the citizens asserted, “Condolences to Irving and family on the passing of Akinyi. Rest in peace. May the angels carry you on their wings and present you to God. We will miss your beautiful smile and lovely spirit.”
High Commission of Dominica, London, also shared the post of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to extend condolences to the Finance Minister of Dominica on the passing of his wife.
Earlier, Dr Irving McIntyre bid farewell to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment as he will now be at the helm of the Ministry of Finance. Dr McIntyre handed over his former ministry to his successor, Cassanni Laville.
