Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda- Gaston Browne, was invited as a Guest of Honour and featured speaker at the 40th Grand Parade of India’s 75th Independence Day Anniversary, Organised by the Federation of Indian Associations in New York.

Since 1981, India and Antigua and Barbuda have enjoyed very friendly relations and have entered into technical cooperation projects to the benefit of both sovereign states. Most recently, following a devastating natural disaster in Antigua and Barbuda, India stepped forward with the resources to place the Hanna Thomas Hospital on Barbuda back into operation. It was severely damaged and its equipment destroyed by the vicious winds and water of Hurricane Irma in September 2017. Even now, in the wake of the global war against the dreadful Coronavirus pandemic, India has come forwarded and donated $1 Million USD worth of life-saving equipment and PPEs to our twin island state.

The Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda reaffirm their faith in the greatness of the Government and people of the Republic of India and take this opportunity to renew the assurances of their highest esteem and friendship.

Recently, on 15 August 2022, the Republic of India celebrated their 75th independence day.

In the pictures posted on the social media of prime minister, it could be seen he met with different people of India which includes the South Indian Actor Allu Arjun featured in various popular films in the country.

Earlier on 19 August 2022, 75 children from the City West’s annual summer camp made a surprise visit to Prime Minister Gaston Browne at his office on Queen Elizabeth Highway.

The enthusiastic young campers had the opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Browne and pretended to be him for the morning. Prime Minister Browne spent his Thursday morning showing the children his office and allowing everyone to sit in his chair and pretend to pick up calls and sign their names.

Questioning the young campers about their experience at the camp so far, many students reported that they enjoyed music lessons and sports time the most. Before bidding the children farewell as they made their way to Stingray city for the day, PM Browne reminded them that they can become Prime Minister someday, once they remain focused, authentic, and hardworking.
