Trinidad and Tobago: The opposition leader – Kamla Persad Bissesar of Trinidad and Tobago, has once again targeted the PNM government and stated that no amount of fake outrage and cancel culture would stop her from giving warning about the Economic and social disaster ahead.

Bissesar stated, “The citizens of T&T are on the edge as they have been out of the job for months now.”

She added that it had been more than 15 months, and the PNM government has been in charge, and hundreds of thousands have been put out of work, almost 700 dead, but no action taken by the government to make modifications.

“Can you imagine if, over the last six weeks, 400 people had died because of crime? Everyone would have been on Gary Griffith’s throat about the deaths from crime and other criminal activity asking for his head. He is a public servant, just like the Ministry of Health’s propaganda team,” the leader of opposition asserted.

Bissesar further added that the PNM government is using fake outrage among the people to cover their failure to manage the COVID-19 pandemic and stated that the deaths from inefficient management of the crime or deaths from inadequate oversight of the health sector in the country are both unacceptable.

Following the statement, Bissesar cited, “I acknowledge that all the 400 deaths couldn’t have been avoided.” Adding to this, she stated that she is sure that many deaths could have been avoided if there had been a proper responsibility rather than propaganda by health officials during the crisis in T&T.

“Thousands of companies have lost their capacity to reopen and lost with it the jobs they would have created. We have seen countless videos of citizens resorting to petty theft for things like baby milk and macaroni and cheese so that they can get something to eat,” Bissesar added.

The opposition leader further concluded that the residents of the country are at the breaking point. People have no idea when they would be able to earn an income again. Yet, the PNM government has not made a plan for small and medium-sized businesses and cited that the T&T’s government only has planned to save their friends and financiers’ big companies.
